Government forecasters say US crude oil production is falling and will continue to do so until late 2016 as low oil prices eat into producers' returns, prompting them to rein in drilling and completion activity. In its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that US crude production fell by roughly 100,000 b/d between June and July.
