The local government of southwestern China's Sichuan province is seeking from Beijing a 20.28 million yuan ($3.29 million) shale gas subsidy for producers, according to the National Energy Administration--the second such payout following a request from neighboring Chongqing authorities (IOD May16'14). Royal Dutch Shell and PetroChina's Fushun-Yongchuan joint venture is entitled to claim back 13.7 million yuan for shale gas output from three wells in Sichuan. PetroChina's other two self-financed Sichuan blocks are entitled to receive 6.57 million yuan.
