Statoil Awards Rig Contracts

Statoil said on Tuesday that the partners in the Gullfaks and Oseberg consortium have awarded contracts for the construction and operation of two rigs worth an initial $900 million. The contracts for two category J rigs, which are able to operate in harsh deep water environments, are expected to help increase recovery rates and extend the life of the Oseberg and Gullfaks fields.
