Bulgaria has again delayed a decision on going ahead with the 700,000 b/d Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline, designed to bypass Turkey's congested Bosporus Strait. On his election in 2009, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov said Sofia would take another look at all energy projects with Russia, including BourgasAlexandroupolis, the South Stream gas pipeline and a nuclear power plant in Belene. The Bulgarian environment ministry said last week that a report into the environmental impact of building the 285-km Bourgas line needs more work and will take another two months to complete, but observers don't expect much progress even after that.
