China's Q3 Gas Demand Rises

China's apparent consumption of naturalgas in the third quarter of the year totaled30.6 Bcm (11.74 Bcf/d), an increase of20.8% year-on-year, according to the National Development and Reform Commis-sion (IOD Sep.16'11). The ministry said thisis a 1 Bcm (384 MMcf/d) increase from thesecond quarter, and attributed the higher de-mand to hotter weather and increased con-sumption from the power sector. From Janu-ary to September this year, total gas demandaveraged 93.7 Bcm (12.1 Bcf/d).
