Chinese crude oil imports leapt 27% year-on-year in January to average just over 5.15 million b/d, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. But crude imports from Russia totaled 815,640 tons, or about 193,000 b/d - quite a bit less than the 300,000 b/d expected to be sent through the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline spur that opened officially at the start of 2011. China imported 329,000 b/d from Russia in December, while the full-year average was 306,000 b/d.
