UK-listed Soco said Thursday that Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. (HLJOC) will start development drilling next month in the Te Giac Trang field off Vietnam. HLJOC has secured the PV Drilling-1 jack-up rig from PV Drilling, state Petrovietnam’s drilling arm. A seven-well campaign is planned, with an option to extend the rig contract for up to two years. The field is in Block 16-1 in the Cuu Long Basin. The first well is scheduled to spud in mid-August after the Phase 1 platform jacket and drilling deck have been installed, Soco said.
