Sibir Faces New Pressure

Russian prosecutors say they want to interview the former main shareholder in UKlisted Sibir Energy, Shalva Chigirinsky, over allegations of tax evasion. They have subpoenaed Chigirinsky, as well as some top officials at Moscow Oil and Gas Co. (MOGC) - a downstream subsidiary of Sibir - and its predecessor firm, Moscow Oil Co., to testify. Sources say an international arrest warrant could be issued against Chigirinsky if he ignores the summons. He fled Russia earlier this year amid accusations of unauthorized use of company money.
