As governments around the world provide public funding for research into carbon capture and storage (CCS), the number of demonstration and pilot projects is gradually expanding. The US has recently jumped on board the CCS train, announcing $979 million in government funding for three projects aimed at developing technology to store and sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by coal-fired power plants.
