Indonesia plans to offer 20 oil and gas blocks in May or June in the second phase of its 2009 licensing round, according to the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas).Coalbed methane blocks will also go on offer, Migas Upstream Director Eddy Herman-toro said Wednesday.A total of 31 blocks were offered in the first phase of the 2009 round, 15 under the regular tender scheme and 16 under the direct offer system, whereby a company wins a block if no better bids are received from third parties. Companies have to submit bids for the regular tender by the end of March, with winners to be announced in June. Direct offer bids must be submitted this month. Herman-toro said international oil firms have shown the most interest in lightly explored, direct offer acreage, while national oil companies have been drawn to onshore blocks.
