Corporate debt in China too high: economist

Corporate debt in China will reach a worryingly high level in the next five years unless necessary reforms are carried out, according to economist Sarah Hewin.Although China's overall debt is not high and is well below the levels seen in Western countries or Japan, the level of corporate debt is too high, Hewin, chief economist at London-based Standard Chartered Bank, said at the London Metal Exchange seminar that kicked off LME Week Oct. 31.
