HKEx earnings surge on LME commercialization

Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. (HKEx) posted a 73-percent jump in first-half earnings to HK$4.1 billion ($528.62 million) thanks to its commercialization strategy for the London Metal Exchange, higher trading and clearing fees, and increased market activity. The group’s consolidated revenue and other income totaled HK$6.85 billion ($883.19 million), up 48 percent from the first six months of last year, of which the LME contributed 19 percent, or HK$1.3 billion ($167.61 million).
