Elkem Foundry Products set an annual shipment record when a "supersack"-about one ton-of nodularizer arrived at Metal Technologies Inc.'s casting center in Auburn, Ind., earlier this month.The arrival of the specialty magnesium-ferrosilicon product at the gray and ductile iron foundry marked the first time the Oslo, Norway-based company has shipped more than 100,000 tons of its high-performance foundry products to customers worldwide in a single year.
