The total import cost of fertilisers and fertiliser raw materials in the current financial year 2008-09 is expected to touch Rs.91,117 crores-a 712% rise from the 2004-05 level.The average cost of urea import for 2008-09 is estimated at Rs.21,506 crores,DAP at Rs.35 crores,MOP at Rs.37 crores and phos acid & rock phosphate at Rs.20,746 crores and 7,260 crores,respectively.Meanwhile,import cost of ammonia and sulphur is respectively estimated at Rs.4,896 crores and Rs.6,152 crores.Compared to 2004-05 level,the projected rise in the import cost for urea is 4052%,DAP 443%,MOP 9%,phos acid 392%,rock phosphate 3%,ammonia 227% and sulphur 754%.
