Indigenous knowledge needs to be quyickly patented so that it helps the ayurvedic and herbal industry in India grow in the globalized world.Speaking at the three-day'International Healthcare & Herbal Expo 2004'organized jointly by FICCI and the Voluntary Health,Education and Rural Development Society(VHERDS)in New Delhi,Sri Jayendra Saraswati,the Kankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham,highlighted the issue of patents and the efficacy and usefulness of ayurvedic and herbal medicines.
