Appendicolith With Acute Appendicitis

Over the past 24 hours, an 18-year-oldboy had generalized abdominal painand fever. On presentation to theemergency department, he was febrile,with a temperature of 38.3°C (101°F),and tachycardic (heart rate, 120 beats perminute); blood pressure and respirationrate were normal. He had a past historyof intermittent asthma. Abdominal ex-amination elicited tenderness over theright iliac fossa. The remaining examina-tion findings were unremarkable.
