It is my great pleasure to congratulate The Japanese Society for History of Pharmacy (JSHP. ) for celebrating its 60th anniversary, and I sincerely praise and admire the long list of accomplishments of JSHP. The modern science of pharmacy has been introduced in Korea about a century ago, and the first modern pharmaceutical company (Dong Wha Pharm. Co.) was established in 1897. Despite a long history of modernization of pharmacy in Korea, the field of "History of Pharmacy" did not receive much attention.
