Research and development of satellite based gigabit networking technology

摘要

Satellite communications system plays an important role in constructing global information infrastructure. Developing gigabit rate satellite communications system enables seamless networking with terrestrial based high data rate networks. NASA/ACTS project broke up the R&D of gigabit satellite communications systems and lead operational system plans which will start services in around 2002. The Experimental Gigabit Satellite is currently developed in Japan aiming at the launch in around 2005. Gigabit satellite networking technology is also currently developed actively.
