摘要

The widespread of Broadband services has made it possible for us to access various types of information over the Internet. Nowadays, video streaming is gaining more popularity as attractive applications such as VOD and video teleconference are being realized. However, the Internet does not guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) of such traffics. Especially in streaming live and interactive streaming, conventional solutions are not effective. Channel-Adaptive Streaming have been heavily researched and proven effective in overcoming highly volatile channel conditions. Nevertheless, it is not adequate as the effect is not instantaneous. Hence, this paper aims at improving the QoS of high bit rate MPEG video streaming during the transition of states and burst traffics, by combining selective retransmission and frame discarding techniques based on MPEG characteristics.
