摘要

Lining and shaping fit of hard materials using the shot peening process was investigated. In this process, two kinds of shot peening machines, compressed-air type and centrifugal type, were employed. To bond a hard material efficiently on the surface of a cylindrical workpiece, the shot peening equipment with a heating furnace and masking plate was fabricated. The influence of processing conditions on the bonding between the hard material and the cyrindrical workpiece was examined. The present process was effective for the surface hardening of the cylindrical machine parts. The bonding of hard materials using shaping fit was also performed. The hard materials were bonded to the workpiece because of the drop generated by plastic deformation. The bonding force was measured by the tension test. The bonding force increases with increasing kinetic energy of the shots and processing temperature. It was found that the hard materials are successfully bonded by shaping fit.
