Simultaneous Joining of Resistance-Sintered Iron Powder Compact to Different Ingot Metal Parts

摘要

With the intention of extending the resistancesintering technique to an assembly of sintered parts, the aboveexperiment was conducted. Four kinds of metals, stainless steel,carbon steel, brass and duralumin, with wide-ranging thermalconductivity, are used as materials to be joined, and their joiningconditions are examined in relation to the electrificationcondition, including the pressure applied. The experimentreveals that the thermal conductivity of the metal parts to bejoined has a strong influence on the morphology of the joinedarea and hence bond strength, and that applying a high pressurejust after the completion of electrification is effective inincreasing the bond strength. In is concluded that thesimultaneous joining of a sintered compact to ingot metal partsby resistance sintering is possible if the sintering conditions areproperly chosen.
