Finding all DC solutions of piecewise-linear (PWL) circuits is an important and very difficult problem in circuit simulation. For this problem, many efficient algorithms have been proposed; for example, see References [1-10] and the references cited there. See also References [11-14] as the recent related studies. In this problem, it is important to develop a powerful test for non-existence of a solution in a given region (consisting of many linear regions) so that we can discard many linear regions containing no solution at an early stage of the algorithm.
