Application of Supercritical Water to Treating Waste

The treatment of waste is becoming aimportant social problem. In this situation, variousprocesses for treating waste utilizing characteristicsof supercritical water are investigated. As one of suchprocesses, a new oil conversion process insupercritical water has been developed, and ademonstration plant of 1 ton/day capacity has beenconstructed. We successfully liquefied scrap ofplastic materials of electric cable made of cross-linked polyethylene and obtained the liquefaction yield of more than 80%.
