摘要

Simulated results of structural change, residual stresses and distortion are presented for carbon steelcylinder in the scanning-type induction hardening process by a CAE system "HEARTS (HEAttReaTment Simulation system)". The system HEARTS was developed to simulate heat treatmentprocesses based on "metallo4hermo-mechanics" available for describing the coupling effect betweenmetallurgical change due to phase transformation, temperature and inelastic stress/strain. A steelcylinder is treated as an axisymmetric model with scanning internal heat generation and convectionboundary. The results under different scanning velocity as well as the magnitude and pattern of theheat source from induction coil are compared with experimental data of distortions, volume fractionof metallic phases as well as residual stresses.
