摘要

What led you to specialize in the field of imaging?Radiology is, in essence, living pathology. As a medical student I was always very interested in how disease manifests itself and the way you can see it in specimens, particularly malignancies, and the prospect of being able to see this, either before the patient undergoes an operation or before the patient unfortunately dies of their disease, was important for me because I felt that the pathology often holds the key to understanding how the disease has manifested in the patient. All the skills that we learn as doctors involve trying to elicit what is going on indirectly, often by forms of examination and taking history; but withimaging, if you can produce very high-quality images, you can get this information straight away. That is what appealed to me; imaging took the guesswork out of making diagnoses and understanding what the disease is doing to a patient.
