A recent review of this ternary system by [2005Gho] presented liquidus and solidus projections and three isothermal sections at 400, 300 and 200, mainly from the studies of [1980Sch] and [1981Sch]. A thermodynamic optimization of the system was recently carried out by [2011 Wan]. A liquidus projection, three isothermal sections and five vertical sections were computed by [2011Wan], which showed good agreement with available experimental data. The Al-Li phase diagram [1989Sau] depicts three intermediate phases. AlLi (45-55 at.% Li; B32, NaTl-type cubic), Al_2Li_3 (C33, Bi_2Te_3-type rhombohedral) and Al_4Li_9 (Al_4Li_9-type monoclinic). The Al-Mg phase diagram [1998Lia] has the following intermediate phases: Al_3Mg_2 (Al_3Mg_2-type cubic, labeled ), R or (Mn_(44)Si_9-type rhombohedral) and Al_(12)Mg_(17) (A12, Mn-type cubic, denoted ). The Li-Mg phase diagram [2011 Wan] has no intermediate phases. Li dissolves about 75 at.% Mg and Mg dissolves about 17 at.% Li at the eutectic temperature. A congruent maximum occurs in the solidification of the liquid to (Li) at about 70 at.% Mg.
