Contribution of Different Characters Towards Seed Yield in Diallel Crosses of Maize ( Zea mays L.)

摘要

Maize is one of the important crop of Jharkhand and generally grown in Kharif season. Only a few varieties of maize have been recommended for cultivation in Jharkhand so far. There is need to develop promising varieties of maize for this region. Before formulating the breeding programme for further improvement, the knowledge of genetic variability for quantitative triats in breeding materials is essential. The breeders are concerned with selecting superior genotype (s) on the basis of their phenotypic expression. The present investigation was undertaken to study the contribution of different component characters towards grain yield.
