A Secure Single Transaction Online Voting Protocol

In this paper, a simple, reliable, elegant, and efficient Internet based single transaction voting protocol is proposed and designed to meet the needs of an organization that require a secure and cost effective voting solution. The proposed voting protocol consists of administrator, voter, validator, and tallier modules. The functions of the Administrator, voter, and validator modules are the same as in the existing voting protocols such as Simple, One Agency, Two Agency, and Sensus protocol but the function of tailier is not same. In the existing protocols either the fallier has to wait for the decryption key from the voter till the voting process is over or the verification process has to wait until the election is over. But in the proposed single transaction voting protocol the entire voting process as well as the verification process is done in a single transaction compared to multiple transactions in the existing protocols. This protocol allows the voter to transmit the voter securely over the Internet using RSA public key cryptography technique and the validity of the voter is checked by MD5 technique. The advantage of single transaction is that it consumes less time that results in overall speeding up the voting process.
