Refractive surgical problem

A 30-year-old man with a 15-year history of rigid gas-permeable (RGP) contact lens use enthusiastically seeks consultation concerning vision-correction surgery. He denies dry-eye symptoms and believes his refraction has not changed in the past several years. He has been very happy with his RGP lenses, although he is tired of wearing them and is enthusiastic about surgical options. He is able to wear the RGP lenses all day and rarely wears glasses except for the past 3 weeks in anticipation of this consultation. The patient denies having glare or halos at night time. He says he has no difficulty driving at night. He also denies visual symptoms in dim environments.
