The study by Date et al. evaluated preoperative and postoperative refractive and cataract surgery data in post-laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) patients to validate the Diehl-Miller equation for achieving em-metropia after this surgery. We would like to make a few observations.The authors used the IOLMaster (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) to measure the axial length and the Pentacam (Oculus, Inc.) to measure the keratometry (K) readings. It would be interesting to know whether the Diehl-Miller nomogram works with Pentacam data only or also works with the IOLMaster K readings. For comparison with other methods, Date et al. performed the intraocular lens power calculation using different formulas according to the length of the eye,2 but to our knowledge, no published studies have shown whether this technique also works in patients who have had refractive corneal surgery. Without this information, it is difficult to know which method is better, as different formulas could give different results.
