Canadian coking coal suppliers in talks on July supplies

Canadian coking coal suppliers keep prices steady in the third week of May. With the end of long-term contracting, producers are seeking to sell the remaining volumes in free market. Coal of Canadian origin (volatiles – 18-20%; CSR – 60) is available to China at $135-140/t CFR, for June shipment. Although prices remain rather low, China’s consumers are reluctant to make bookings for they have enough material to operate until July.
