Foulbroods

For the past year I have been reporting incidents of foulbrood in the magazine as they have been detected and announced in different areas of Scotland. This week it really hit home to me, when I received a phone call announcing that AFB and now also EFB had been discovered within a mile or so of our apiary. Bees have been kept on our apiary site for fifty or more years. Locally I know of beekeepers who have kept bees for even longer than that. We as amateur beekeepers have for years either been ignored by government or considered a 'bloody nuisance' at best.
