Recycling EAF Dust Leaching Residue to the Furnace: A Simulation Study

Simulation programs have been developed tostudy the effect of recycling the electric arc furnace dustleaching residues to the furnace. Residues from sulfuric acidand sodium hydroxide leaching have been tested. Resultsenable the furnace-leaching response to be defined in acdordwith the recycling rate and conditions for zero stabilization tobe determined. Either of the two alternative treatmentseliminates the resulting environmental problem. Regardingthe management and minimization of residues, the alkalinetreatment route is more favorable than the acid one. Thepreliminary economic evaluation of the alkaline method is very promising.
