Research by the UK’s University of Southampton shows that the airline industry still needs to discourage passenger growth with higher ticket prices in order to meet its carbon-neutral growth pledge, even if it invests heavily in more efficient technology and introduces lower-carbon fuels. “There is little doubt that increasing demand for air travel will continue for the foreseeable future,” said co-author Professor John Preston.
