Membrane processes have fascinating possibilities in the fruit juice industry,as they have the ability to work in an environmental-friendly and cost-efficient way to concentrate diluted solutions containing heat-sensible solutes.Both membrane distillation(MD)and osmotic evaporation(OE)have the same driving force(water vapour pressure difference between the two sides of the membrane),and uses similar membrane materials and module configurations.In both cases,water can only permeate in vapour phase,because of the hydrophobic nature of the membrane.
