All eyes are turning to the Canadian oil sands for present and future oil reserves and the coal, steel, and copper industries are enjoying a strong comeback. High demands in China, India, and Mongolia have pushed the price of metals such as copper, iron ore, and even gold to heights that have not been seen in at least 20 years. The present market has influenced the mining industry at all levels of business. New mines are opening, old mines are expanding, and even closed properties, or ones on the brink of closure, are reopening as economically viable projects. Manufacturers of mobile mining equipment are meeting the challenges of today's market in a variety of ways.
