The recent resurgence in denialist commentary in the media and in political debate might suggest that any concerns about global warming should now be put on the backburner. As we come closer to taking real action, it was inevitable that vested interests would intensify their efforts to subvert it, irrespective of the scientific or societal merits of the case. That is now happening, with a carefully coordinated, well-funded global campaign of disinformation to discredit the science, as with asbestos and tobacco in earlier eras.
