摘要

As we farewell the first half of 2009, we leave behind the familiar Chemistry in Australia. This first 'renovated' issue follows calls for significant change (March issue, p. 25). One of my first tasks as editor has been to find out what sorts of change our readers seek. Several focus groups convened earlier this year have indicated the reading habits and preferences of people of different ages, interests and qualifications. The focus group outcomes have helped set the magazine's new editorial direction. My sincere thanks to all who have generously given their time, effort and ideas to focus group activity and the multitude of tasks constituting this renovation.
