Titanium treatments

Like other materials, titanium alloys also undergo various heat treatments to obtain different properties in the final component. Alpha-beta alloys are the most common. Of these, Ti-6-4 (6A1-4V) is usually used in the annealed condition to improve machinability and to provide stability, so that properties do not change over time. However, it is also heat treatable via solution treatment and aging for higher-strength applications.
