Valspar coatings sales suffer but architectural paint trends up

Lower volumes in Valspar's larger coatings segment contributed to a 24% decline in fiscal second quarter income as sales continued to slide. February to 1 May net income fell to $31M from $42M a year ago as sales at the US paints and coatings firm dropped 20% year-on-year to $668M.
