Asia remains the destination of choice for the moment in global LNG spot markets.But with European-including even Spanish-demand stuttering,the stars are aligning for a resurgence in shipments to the US,where a gas price spike has taken futures prices above 9 per million Btu through summer,and a demand surge is expected over the coming weeks as new import terminals take commissioning cargoes(see table on right).
