New Gas Year Sees New Norwegian Sales

The Oct.1 start of Europe's 2005-06 gas marketing year saw Norway's Statoil launch 11 billion cubic meters per year(1 billion cubic feet per day)of gas shipments under new and incremental contracts signed over a year ago on behalf of itself and the State Direct Financial Interest(SDFI).One result would appear to be to tie up more of the capped production volumes from the giant Troll field under long-term contract.But any resulting decrease in availability of gas for spot or short-term sales by Statoil will be mitigated in part - if not entirely - by increased flows from smaller fields.
