With Japan's nuclear reactors expected to remain off line for the rest of this year, power utilities will buy more spot LNG to cover winter demand, provided prices do not exceed oil parity, a source at a Japanese trading house says (WGI Jun.26'13). Four utilities applied to Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) to restart 10 idled reactors after tougher post-Fukushima safety rules took effect on Jul. 8, but NRA officials say it will take at least six months to screen each application.
