India's marine fishery exports could be hit by central government plans to withdraw export incentives granted to the marine fishery industry as part of wider plans to scale back additional tax benefits extended to various export industries in recent years. Following a Ministry of Finance directive proposing the withdrawal of additional benefits to those export sectors that performed well in 2009, the Ministry of Commerce has included marine fisheries in its benefits withdrawal review after fishery products worth over $2 billion were exported last year.
