For berry growers, the most damaging and pervasive pests are weeds. With the scarcity of preemergent herbicides, growers are looking to alternative controls. DESPITE the fact that every grower of small fruit must invest a significant amount of time, effort, and money into weed management, little research activity is being done to develop new tools for weed management. The most cost-effective tools are herbicides, and most growers would like to see more herbicides labeled for use.
