USDA Investing $68 Million In Renewable Energy Projects

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is allocating spending for 540 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects nationwide in the form of loan guarantees and grants, particularly in rural communities. Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack made the announcement Sept. 18 in North Carolina to highlight USDA's spending for rural renewable energy projects. Vilsack previously announced a $105-million loan guarantee to a company that will produce jet fuel from municipal solid waste.
