The conference programme is planned to include an overview of the mechanism of corrosion and the principles of sacrificial and barrier coatings for steel structures (Mr G Hillan, Brown and Root Ltd), a case study of thermally sprayed aluminium as a maintenance free coating (Mr C Houghton, AMOCO (UK) Exploration Co and Mr T Rosbrook, Quest Consulting Ltd) and a paper concerned with whole life systems for use offshore (Dr Swidzinski, Phillips Petroleum Co). The evaluation of thermally sprayed aluminium and maintenance free coatings will be presented by Dr I Thompson of British Gas plc and specifications and their implications will be discussed by Dr T Lester of Metallisation Ltd. Coating Systems past, present and future will be discussed by Mr E Watson and Mr K Harrison of Sulzer Metco (UK) Ltd and a paper on thermally sprayed coatings will be presented by Mr J Hinchen from the event co-sponsors, Duralcan.
