Cotswold views: May 2003

After the driest April for 54 years, I thought I wouldn't need to replace my torn and shabby looking coat until the winter. It had been that dry that Denis, (yes, one "n"), one of the production lads, who had ploughed and planted a field near where Ilive, was said to be the only person in Bishops Cleeve with his own desert. Well, the rain did come and my coat was needed - the one I should've replaced. I had ripped this coat whilst entering one of the spawn-runners in April. As I opened the door andwalked in, the back of my coat somehow got caught by the door handle. So, when I walked forward there was a tug backwards and a loud ripping sound. The door flew open, hit the wall and bounced back, slamming shut and locking me in. All of the spawn-running room doors have keys inside for just these sort of occasions so I went to turn the key and it snapped in the lock! I 'phoned Dave, (Foreman), to let me out, he said he would, just as soon as his lunch break was over!
