Winter in South Australia can be depressingly cold, wet and windy and the winter of 2012 certainly was no exception. Cloudy, wet, foggy conditions plagued most of our weekends and the distinct lack of sunny days made it very uninviting on the water. You can understand why a lot of trailerboat fisherman put the boat away opting for a warm fire whilst watching the footy. But the good news is that South Australian waters still offer some magnificent angling for prime table species during the cooler months. It's just a matter of rugging up against the cold and getting out there amongst it and you will be surprised at the results. Your trailerboat is a big investment and rather than have it sit idle in the driveway for five months it makes sense to use all year round. If you get off your butt and make an effort, there are plenty of good fish available in winter waters. I suspect other southern states do as well if anglers are prepared to rug up and give it a go. If nothing else, you don't have to queueat the ramp and waterways are uncrowded.
