In the lead up to the Golf Day, Melbourne unleashed weather not seen for decades, rain, and hail and high winds. This made the organisers of the day somewhat nervous, but when March 11th arrived, the weather was perfect, with sunshine, 22°C, and a very capricious light wind. The recent rains meant the course was in marvellous condition, verdant fairways and greens, appealing to the eye, and most enjoyable to play upon. The field of 60+ players, was the largest seen for some years, and gave the event a nice buzz, during registration and the putting competition.
